Whether you just got started on your fitness journey or are well into it, I think it’s safe to say that we have all experienced a time when you feel like giving up.

The key to starting and maintaining motivation during your fitness journey is to be relentless and consistent in reminding yourself of your personal goals. Finding a unique way throughout your journey to connect with your fitness goal is helpful when building good lifestyle habits.

Why not have a positive mindset and say to yourself I can do it rather than giving up, remind yourself to keep  going no matter the circumstance; focus on getting better and trust me you will appear better than you ever imagined.

Below are few steps on how to stay motivated during your fitness journey;

  1. Remind yourself why you started.

Slow and steady most often wins the race. When you feel like quitting, always remember the reason behind your motive.

Take your time to write a list on why you  started the journey in the first place.

Ask yourself questions like:

  • Why did I embark on this journey?
  • What will I gain from it?
  • If I quit, will I be able to achieve my aim or purpose?
  • Why is it necessary?
  • What motivates me?

Asking yourself these questions could give you the staying power to continue. However, my advice for you is to live in the moment and to learn to enjoy every aspect of your routine.

  1. Surround yourself with positivity

Quitting is never an option on the road to success. Find the way forward. If you have a positive mindset and are willing to persevere, there is little that is beyond your reach. The attitude of being ready to work even in the face of challenges is what will make all the difference in your life.

  1. Schedule Fitness as a Priority

Planning your fitness activities like a business appointment will help you stay on track.

Set aside time in your busy  schedule for workouts and make it a priority. Create time for yourself, you can even mark some days on your calendar or even set a reminder and follow them through your schedule and then you can set new goals.

  1. Be kind to yourself

The truth is we all tend to forget from time to time to take care of ourselves even when we are not on that workout grind. While you are pushing hard on reaching your goal, remind yourself why you are doing this and how important it is to take care of your health.

  1. Take it one at a time

Rome was not built in a day, but it was worked on everyday. Slow and steady wins the race, especially when it comes to fitness. If you feel like you’re coming to a standstill, change the routine so you look forward to something new every day. Whatever you decide to do, have fun with it because life can be boring at times but your fitness journey doesn’t have to be. Take it step by step, little by little and then have fun.

  1. Keep trying

Even if you fail, you have to pick yourself up and start over. Once you quit one thing, it gets easier just to leave situations rather than deal with them. Nobody is above mistake; we all tend to make mistakes, it’s how we handle them and what we learn from them that makes us better. Don’t be hard on yourself when you fail, even after one day, you can do this.
