Although it is a normal occurrence for relationships to pass through challenges sometimes, it becomes alarming when these issues exceed a certain level of inconvenience and start to negatively impact every aspect of your life: your business, your friendships, your health, and mental health.

Yes, no relationship is perfect but a healthy, well-rounded relationship for the most part, should make you feel secure, happy, cared for, respected, and free to be yourself.

This holds true for any kind of relationship, be it platonic, business, familial, or romantic.

Here are a few indicators that you’re in a toxic relationship;

Passive Aggressive Behaviour

There are people who have found themselves in relationships where they questioned their partner on what was bothering them and met a brick wall. Thereafter, their partner punished them by giving them the silent treatment. This is known as passive aggression. One problem with it is that it doesn’t leave room for resolution of the conflict and if you don’t know what’s wrong, you can’t fix it.

Hostile Atmosphere

Constant anger is a sign of an unhealthy relationship and it can often deteriorate into abuse and physical violence. You should never be around hostility because it makes you feel unsafe.

Constant Judgement

In judgmental relationships, criticism is not intended to be helpful but rather to belittle. When all you get from your partner is constant verbal and mental attacks, this is a sure sign that you’re in a toxic relationship.

Lack Of Communication

In a mature relationship, both partners need to be able to talk out whatever issue is bothering them. However, when one party insists on keeping their emotions bottled up, there can be no growth because, without communication, there is no relationship.

Continuous Disrespect

Mutual respect is the first requirement of a good partnership. In a situation where one partner disregards the other on a regular basis, that is a major red flag.
